Spectator. Jan 31 – Feb 28 2005
87 Points, Echeverría Merlot Reserva 2002:
“Lovely focus here, with plum and black cherry fruit, dried
herb and cocoa powder notes with slightly firm, cedary tannins framing
the finish. This winery has a very consistent house style”
86 Points, Echeverría Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2001:
“Firm, with cedar and vanilla bean notes framing the black
cherry and red currant fruit. Taut in the end, but good flesh here.
For fans of the style”
Wine Enthusiast – February 2005
90 points Echeverría Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
1999.
“Mature, with notes of raisin, leather and tree bark. For
an aged reserve-level Chilean Cab, it impresses. The palate still
holds some cedary notes, but there’s depth and nuance and
fruit as well. A serious wine with warmth, structure and just
enough sly fruit to earn its mark".
88 points Echeverría Cabernet Sauvignon
/ Merlot Reserva 2001
“Sweet, condensed and loaded with berry jam and lots of
oak. The palate pitches the full assortment of dark fruits: plum,
black cherry and their buddies are all here. Finishes solid. The
wine is 70% Cab and the rest Merlot”

Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 1998
August 2000
Scents of wild strawberries and tannins soft as
chocolate give more of an impression of merlot than
cabernet sauvignon. Even so, the earthy, cool soil
flavors make this wine a pleasure to drink, an
easy, light red with character.
87
1998 Merlot Reserva
November 15, 2000
Pretty. More like a Cabernet, with its elegant cedar and currant
flavors augmented by toast and mineral notes, but still a very
good little wine, with some genuinely food-friendly structure,
too. Drink now through 2001. (2100 cases produced).
84
1999 Cabernet Sauvignon

Like opening a jar of grape jelly, exuberant
and fresh. Medium-bodied, picking up slightly dusty
tannins on the finish. Not complex but a good
little drink. Drink now (22,000 cases
produced).

1998 Unwooded Chardonnay
January 31, 1999
A quaffable white, with white, light herbal and vanilla flavors,
bright, crisp and simple. Has enough weight to match with richer
fish dishes but is refreshing enough to enjoy on its own. Drink
now. (10,000 cases produced).
80
1998 Chardonnay Reserva
September 15, 2000
A hint of sweetness, with a sawdust note, yet
overall the apple and spice flavors and bright
structure have appeal. Drink now (20,000 cases
produced).
